About Ron

Ron Smith is celebrating his 25th year in business and is the quintessential entrepreneur. The business bug first bit Ron at the tender age of 15 when he started his first successful business; a Disc Jockey service. He intuitively knew that DJing high school dances, while fun, was not the recipe for long term success. He decided that playing music for “old people” was and Weddings Only! was born. Those humble beginnings as a sole proprietor specializing in the wedding market started Ron on a entrepreneurial journey that included business ownership across various industries including hospitality, commercial painting and transportation. While getting ready to take his household furniture moving company to the national stage, Ron was presented with the opportunity to get in on the “ground floor” of a brand new business coaching company that had just entered the Canadian market from Australia. Ron decided it was a good time to let someone else take The Moving Medics to the next level and sold the business to a local competitor. The new coaching company needed some help with systemization and client care and Ron immediately jumped in with both feet. Ron was able to easily relate to business owners who were struggling to get new clients and it was apparently clear that he was a “natural.” He was chosen as the Marketing Coach of the Year by Leader Global Consulting in 2007, quickly moved into the role of Corporate Trainer and spent his remaining time with them acting as the Director of Territory Development; all while maintaining an active client list of well over 50 clients! But in the true spirit of an entrepreneur, Ron was looking for a new challenge when FranNet entered his life. Ron says, “I have always been interested in the concept of franchising and even at a young age found myself developing duplicatable systems for my businesses.” He continues, I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was already preparing to become a FranNet associate!
